Engaging the participants with research tool to create effective design narratives

Participants were presented with two decks of cards:

1. Choice of moods  (e.g. happy, sad, depressed, angry)    //   2. Choice of some domestic objects (e.g. vacuum cleaner, microwave, coffee maker)

They were asked to make Mood-Object pairs (e.g. Depressed-Vacuum Cleaner) and create a story with their imagination and past experience.

The expression of an object was a reflection of the participant’s past experiences with them and were connected with the inherent affordances of the objects. This experiment allowed random associations that invited all possible interpretations by the participants. This experiment exposed the subjectivities about potential emotional interactions.
